India Post GDS Assam List 1 (July 2026): Check Your Name, Verify by 27 October
India Post has published List 1 for GDS Schedule-II, July 2026. The Assam Circle list has 414 candidates, and document verification at the Divisional Office must be done by 27 October 2026.
India Post has published List 1 of shortlisted candidates for Gramin Dak Sevak posts under GDS Online Engagement Schedule-II, July 2026. The Assam Circle list has 414 names, matching the 414 posts in the circle. If yours is one of them, you have until 27 October 2026 to get your documents verified, and that deadline is firm.
How to check if you're on the list
- Open the GDS Online Engagement portal.
- Go to Shortlisted Candidates and choose the Assam Circle list (List 1).
- Search the PDF for your registration number. On a computer, press Ctrl + F; on a phone, use "Find in page".
- Note the division, the post office, the post (BPM, ABPM or Dak Sevak) and the post ID next to your number.
The list shows each candidate's registration number and Class 10 percentage, not their name. Search by registration number. Searching by name won't find you.
How people were selected
There's no exam for GDS posts. The shortlist is built from Class 10 marks, applied post by post, with each post's community reservation. That's why the cut-offs look so high. Looking through the Assam list, most of the percentages next to the registration numbers are in the 90s, and several are 100.
If you didn't make List 1, don't give up yet. Selected candidates don't always join, and India Post often publishes further lists to fill the gaps.
Document verification: what to do
The notice on the list itself is short and clear: get your documents verified at the Divisional Office of the division you've been selected for, on or before 27 October 2026. Bring the originals and two sets of photocopies of every document.
Expect to need:
- Your Class 10 (HSLC) marksheet.
- Proof of identity and proof of date of birth.
- A caste or EWS certificate if you applied under a reserved category.
- A PwBD certificate, if applicable.
- A medical certificate from a government hospital or health centre.
- Anything your division's letter or the notification specifically asks for.
Assam's divisions include Cachar, Nagaon, Sibsagar, Goalpara, Guwahati, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Nalbari and Tinsukia. Your division is printed next to your registration number. That's the office you go to, not the post office you'll work in.
Before you travel
Ring the Divisional Office or visit it a day early if it's far away. Offices get crowded near the deadline, and a missing photocopy is a silly reason to make a second trip.
Remember that India Post never asks for money to confirm a GDS selection. If someone calls offering to "speed up" your joining for a fee, it's a scam.
The full list and notification are on the India Post GDS portal.
