The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has declared the preliminary exam result for its Specialist Officer recruitment, CRP SPL-XVI. The prelims were held on 29 August 2026, and the Mains is on 1 November 2026. If you've qualified, you have just over two weeks.

How to check your result

  1. Go to ibps.in and open the CRP SPL-XVI (Specialist Officers) section.
  2. Click the prelims result link.
  3. Log in with your registration or roll number and your password or date of birth.
  4. You'll see whether you've qualified. Download or print the page.

Result links on the IBPS website usually stay open for only a limited time, so download yours now rather than later.

What the specialist posts are

These are officer posts in public sector banks for people with specific qualifications: IT officers, agricultural field officers, Rajbhasha adhikari, law officers, HR/personnel officers and marketing officers. The exact list, vacancies by bank and post, and the qualification for each are in the official notification on the IBPS website. Vacancies were revised more than once during the process, so check the latest figure there.

Preparing for the Mains in two weeks

The Mains is built around your own field. For most posts it's a professional knowledge paper. Rajbhasha Adhikari and Law Officer candidates also face a descriptive part. That changes how you should use the next fortnight:

  • Go back to basics in your subject. For IT officers, that means networking, databases, operating systems and security. Agricultural field officers should cover crop science, soil, irrigation and the government's farm schemes. Law officers need banking law, contracts and the negotiable instruments act.
  • Take two or three full-length mocks under exam conditions, and spend more time reviewing them than taking them.
  • Keep an eye on banking news. It turns up in interviews later, and sometimes in the Mains.

Main exam call letter

The Mains call letter will be released on the IBPS website before the exam, using the same login. Keep your registration number and password handy, and print the call letter as soon as it appears. Bring a valid photo ID that matches the details on it.

After the Mains

The stages after the Mains are an interview and then provisional allotment to a bank. IBPS will publish dates for both on its website.
