Job description

Canara Bank is engaging 3,500 graduate apprentices across India for one year under the Apprentices Act, 1961, with 42 seats in Assam. There's no exam: selection is on merit from your Class 12 (or diploma) marks, followed by document verification and a local language test. Applications close on 17 October 2026, so if you're interested, apply today.

Quick facts

  • Bank: Canara Bank
  • Seats: 3,500 across India, 42 in Assam
  • Duration: one year
  • Stipend: ₹16,650 a month (including any Government of India subsidy)
  • Local language for Assam: Assamese, Bengali or Bodo
  • Official fee: ₹500 (including intimation charges); none for SC, ST and PwBD candidates
  • Last date: 17 October 2026

Who can apply

  • A graduate in any discipline from a recognised university, who graduated between 1 January 2023 and 1 September 2026
  • Age 20 to 28 years on 1 September 2026 (born between 2 September 1998 and 1 September 2006). Relaxation: 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer), 5 years for SC/ST and 10 years for PwBD.
  • At least 60% marks in Class 12 or diploma (55% for SC, ST and PwBD). Percentages are not rounded up, so 59.99% does not qualify.
  • You must be able to read, write and speak the local language of the state you apply for. A Class 10 or 12 marksheet showing that language exempts you from the language test.

How selection works

Canara Bank draws up a state-wise merit list from Class 12 or diploma marks. If two candidates tie, the older one ranks higher. Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification, where the local language test is also held, and engagement depends on medical fitness.

How to apply

  • Register on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme portal, nats.education.gov.in, and complete your profile to 100%. Note your enrolment number.
  • Open Canara Bank's online application (the Apply button on this page) and fill in your details, including your NATS enrolment number.
  • Upload your photograph, signature and documents, pay the fee if it applies, and submit.
  • Print the submitted form.
